About Enya
Enya was born in 1961 in Ireland. In the early '80s, she joined Clannad, a band still widely known today. She wouldn't stay a member for long, as in 1982, she left the band to go solo. Her very first song as the Enya we know today was called An Ghaoth Ón Ghrian, but it wasn't until her second album Watermark that she rose to fame.
Her most recent album at the time of writing this article in 2015 is And Winter Came (2008). Undoubtedly though, we all at least know her beautiful work for the trilogy The Lord of the Rings, for which she created the magical May It Be.
Enya has won several Grammy's for her work and has sung in up to 10 different languages! Although heavily influenced by Irish music, church music and classical music, when asked what style of music she would classify herself as, she simply replies: "Enya".
